The Last King of Scotland...

I checked out this movie last night...although I missed about 20 minutes of the movie...it was pretty good. The only downfall is that with movies like this - you really have to go into it knowing the historical background (which I didn't have at the time). And with historical films about Africa and people of color - you have to make sure you get your historical information from an objective source.

But otherwise, it was ok. Forest Whitaker was awesome (As usual) in his role as the powerful but unhinged Ugandan President.

However, Kerry Washington (who was stunningly beautiful in the movie) could've been stronger in potraying her character Kay Amin (his 3rd wife)...

I say this because I'm sure Kay was quite a character in real life to have been bold enough to sleep with a Full Bred WHITE Scottish doctor and then to add insult to inury: get pregnant.

She really risked her life - and ultimately paid the price for doing this...This had to be an interesting and complex woman to be able to take such a risk in that day in time in Africa and also knowing the culture and the role of women there.

Because of this, I was expecting more from Kerry in her portrayal. She could've digged deeper. Kerry lacked the passion that I know a woman like Kay Amin had.

But other wise...it was a good movie...Go See it!

Did you eventually gather the historical information? If so, can you share?
